Doug has been representing business owners/entrepreneurs across the United States in M&A transactions for 30 years and brings a wealth of experience to his clients. Prior to co-founding De NES Partners, Doug was the Business Unit Leader for the Investment Banking/Merger & Acquisition Advisory practice for CBIZ, Inc. (NYSE:CBZ), a $1.4 billion revenue professional services firm, since 2004. Doug joined CBIZ in 1998 when his previous investment banking firm, Niederhoffer-Henkel & Co., was acquired by CBIZ. Prior to Niederhoffer-Henkel, Doug worked in investment banking in New York City.
Doug has analyzed, valued and counseled hundreds of family and entrepreneurial companies across the U.S., with particular experience in building products, consumer products, light manufacturing, pharmaceutical distribution, specialty chemicals, water treatment, financial services, industrial distribution, healthcare services, and industrial services. He has closed transactions for companies from a variety of industries with buyers listed on the NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, London Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchanges as well as with private investment groups. He has been featured in Fortune Magazine and quoted in the Wall Street Journal.
Doug is an honors graduate of Amherst College. He received a Masters in Business Administration from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He is also a licensed securities principal, holding his Series 7, 24, 63, and 79 registrations.

Doug is an avid traveler, having traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe while logging over one million miles on Delta. During quiet moments, Doug can be caught listening to various types of music, including many reggae artists, and watching New York Giants Football and Duke Basketball. Doug also claims Dutch heritage and enjoys spending his free time with his wife and daughter.

Don has been representing business owners/entrepreneurs in M&A transactions for 25 years and brings a wealth of corporate finance experience to his clients. Prior to co-founding De NES Partners, Don was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking/Merger & Acquisition Advisory practice for CBIZ, Inc. Don previously worked for CBIZ M&A Group’s predecessor firm, Niederhoffer-Henkel, in Atlanta.
A native of Kentucky, Don has middle-market company sale experience in various industries, including composites manufacturing, installed residential construction services, building products, commercial/residential/industrial water treatment, litigation support, software, commercial landscaping, heavy civil construction, industrial services, utilities infrastructure services, and healthcare services. Don has sold a number of companies to domestic and international strategic acquirers (NYSE, London Stock Exchange, Irish Stock Exchange) and institutional private equity buyers.
Don was an International Banking Officer with Wachovia Corporation (Wells Fargo) where he supported the Asia/Pacific and European banking groups and served as executive director of a prominent, international not-for-profit organization prior to graduate business school. While in graduate school, he worked as a part-time consultant, providing financial modeling and business plan writing services to business owners seeking either start-up/growth capital or improvements in their operations.
Don holds an International Baccalaureate (IB) Degree, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and East Asian Studies (Japan concentration) from Washington & Lee University, and received a Masters in Business Administration (Finance concentration) from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He is also a licensed securities representative, holding his Series 7, 63, and 79 registrations.

Fun Facts
Don has traveled extensively in the U.S., Western Europe and Asia, and lived in Japan as an exchange student for one year. Don enjoys Kentucky and Duke basketball, craft brewing, designing and making cigar box guitars, and playing golf in his spare time. Don is married and has two daughters.
